We are looking for an individual to fill a new post within the Allergy & Immunology department at St Jamess University Hospital. We are seeking a dynamic consultant immunologist to join the Leeds Immunology & Allergy services at St Jamess University Hospital. The appointee will become a key member of a dedicated and highly experienced multidisciplinary team. The unit provides a specialised service to hospitals & GPs for the diagnosis & management of a range of rare primary immuno-deficiencies, provides a supra regional service for patients with systemic autoinflammatory disorders & the care for a large number of patients with various allergic diseases. The job is a full-time post comprising of ten programmed activities, with supervision of the Resident & Specialist doctors, Specialist nurses, Pharmacist & Physician Associate. There is a commitment to clinical advice on call on a 1:4 Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust makes up one of the largest teaching hospitals in Europe housing over 2,000 beds and providing a range of general, acute and elective services, together with a significant number of regional and supra-regional specialties.

There is a dedicated outpatient and Day-Case facility at St Jamess Hospital. ### Job responsibilities

The successful applicant should possess Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom, (or equivalent) and should have completed a recognised training programme in clinical and laboratory immunology as per curriculum outlined by JRCPTB or equivalent body. Applicants must be on the Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees if currently in a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.

A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.

The post will join Prof Sinisa Savic, Dr Anoop Mistry and Dr Claire Stockdale to provide specialist services for the West, North & large parts of East Yorkshire. Altogether the service serves a population of just over 3 million people. We also provide a supra regional service for patients with systemic autoinflammatory disorders.

The service is divided into three key areas; primary immunodeficiency, allergy and autoinflammatory disorders.

The successful candidate would join the other 3 substantive consultants in the team. They are expected to work closely with the current multidisciplinary team to sustain current capacity of Allergy & Immunology services with a view to expand in the near future, ensure the smooth flow from diagnosis to treatment & follow up, including developing innovative ways of working to sustain increasing patient load, contribute to the Immunology & Allergy on call rota.

- Sustain the current capacity of the service for clinical allergy and immunology work, with a view to expansion following further development of nursing clinics and review of patient throughput.
- Ensure the smooth flow from diagnosis to treatment & follow up
- Support development of Allergy & Immunology Service
- Work closely multidisciplinary team & developing innovative ways of working to sustain increasing patient load
- Contribute to the Allergy & Immunology on call rota (Category B)
