### Job overview

Job purpose:

To provide inspiring leadership for the Community Teams. This will involve continuing to deliver local leadership that will realise the national vision as set out within Better Births (2016). Improved outcomes and experiences will be achieved through safe, high quality care based on relationships of mutual trust and respect in line with women’s decisions.

Job information:

- Provide high quality, evidence-based care.
- To enable midwives in small teams to support women throughout the antenatal and postnatal periods within the community setting.
- The post-holder will provide managerial responsibility for the teams across a seven-day service, including weekends and bank holidays, and will be required to manage budgets at team level.

- Leadership and management of community teams.
- Participation in the Manager of the Day Rota.
- Clinical case-loading and on-calls.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- 3 years post qualification immediately prior to appointment.
- Experienced in midwifery practice
- Knowledge of public health issues, national & local initiatives
- Aware of current issues and recent documents relating to health care

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Registered Midwife
- Degree in Midwifery
- All round midwifery skills.
- Mentorship qualification

**Desirable**

- Evidence of management experience and/or training

### ANALYTICAL AND JUDGEMENT SKILLS

**Essential**

- Innovative approach to midwifery skills
- Is aware of and participates in evidence based care and research activities
- Ability to evaluate and audit midwifery care

### PROFESSIONAL / MANAGERIAL / SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE

**Essential**

- Relevant knowledge regarding the principles as set out within the Better Births review including Continuity of Carer
- An ability to compile complex written information
- Ability to produce reports and data at short notice
- Proven oral and written communication skills
- Able to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Able to manage sensitive or difficult situations effectively
- IT skills including Microsoft Office, Excel and Powerpoint
- Evidence of change management
