We have an exciting opportunity for a Community Phlebotomist to join our Community Stafford North District Nursing Team on a full-time basis based at Greyfriars Therapy Centre, Stafford.

You will be a well-motivated team player who is passionate about providing high quality care to patients. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to organise and prioritise your workload without direct supervision.

Experience of phlebotomy or community working is desirable, but not essential as full training will be provided and there will be further opportunities for training and personal development available.

Our Community Phlebotomists work alongside all the District Nursing and will work throughout the Stafford North area providing home visits to patients who are housebound including care home settings. The teams cover a large geographical area so ability to travel independently between patients' homes and the surrounding area is essential.

### Main duties of the job

You will be visiting patients within the community area of North Stafford to obtain blood samples.

As part of this role, you will be expected to:

- Demonstrate accurate, competent technique when taking blood samples from the patients, completing laboratory forms clearly and accurately with patient details, and specifying test requested
- Deliver a high-quality venepuncture service in the community, taking into consideration the patient’s physical, social and emotional care needs.
- Monitor programmes of care ensuring that routine blood tests are carried out on a regular basis and in a timely manner.
- Take appropriate action relating to any changes in a patient’s condition or circumstances, reporting to the appropriate person without delay.
- Undertake venepuncture for patients as requested by the ILCT, GP’s and secondary care.
- Work without direct supervision organising own workload
- Maintain accurate records as required by the Trust policy, providing evidence of high-quality record keeping skills.
