### Job overview

We are seeking enthusiastic and dynamic midwives with excellent standards of care to join our community teams in the Dudley area. This role will involve providing continuity of care to women during the antenatal and postnatal periods and will involve working in the community of Dudley. To meet the needs of our women it will be necessary to provide on call cover for homebirth. We are also actively developing continuity of carer pathways as part of the Better Births agenda and welcome innovation and enthusiasm.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of care. The post holder will be required to develop their skills in mentorship, leadership, examination of the new-born, providing teaching and supervision of Student Midwives and support staff. The post holder will also be required to take a lead/link role for the unit/department to be determined at appraisal.

“This appointment is offered at Band 5 on a developmental basis. Progression to Band 6 is conditional upon the successful completion of all required competencies and objectives, as determined by the Trust within the agreed timeframe of a minimum of 9 months and a maximum of 24 months. Should the required competencies not be achieved within this period, the Trust reserves the right to withdraw the offer of progression to Band 6 and/or terminate employment in line with Trust policy.”

- Able to meet the physical requirements of the role
- Participation in community midwifery on-call rota and able to respond to emergency calls out of hours within 30 minutes
- Able to commute to meet the needs of the role

### Skills/Experience

- Substantial recent midwifery experience since qualification
- Experience of close liaison with members of multidisciplinary team
- Ability to demonstrate leadership, negotiating and influencing skills

**Desirable**

- Community midwifery experience
- Evidence of having developed team working skills and implemented teamwork practices
- Knowledge of clinical audit and effectiveness systems
- Experience of teaching Parentcraft education
- Computer literate
- Mentorship course
- Demonstration of live mentorship registration
