### Job overview

The Barnet EIP service is currently seeking to recruit experienced and enthusiastic community practitioner to join the team based in Barnet, North London. Working within this very exciting and rewarding area of mental health care for individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis . The post is open to staff with a professional mental health background and who meet the skills set in the person specification for Band 6. The post holder responsibilities are outlined in the job description. You will be responsible for providing care/treatment to support recovery of this client group and individuals, working seamlessly within a MDT to offer high quality, evidence based practice. You will have extensive knowledge/experience of working with people experiencing psychosis and be fully up-to-date with current philosophies of practice, inclusive of NICE and EIP guidelines. The Barnet EIP service aims to support service users to a full recovery following an episode of psychosis by adopting a bio/psycho/social approach and assertive outreach style where a named clinician takes the lead role in supporting an individual with a diagnoses of FEP. The service is proud of its high level of service user and carer satisfaction, excellent performance record and innovative approach to recovery

### Main duties of the job

Carry overall responsibility for the management of a caseload. Ensure care is carried out effectively within a multidisciplinary framework and in collaboration with other agencies.

Maintain contact with clients  during periods of admission, including regular attendance on the ward.

Take lead in the planning and implementation of the client’s re-integration back into the community.  Provide patients and their carers with a service that is culturally sensitive and gives due consideration to any special needs.  Provide therapeutic interventions by means of assessment and ongoing treatment in various settings.

Design care programmes in line with risk assessment and psychosocial needs.

Discharge clients in line with the Early Intervention policy and procedures.

Maintain clear, comprehensive and contemporaneous written clinical records on all clients in accordance with Trust policy, utilising I.T. skills and knowledge to access and input clinical information and data to various electronic system, mainly RIO.

To prepare and provide social circumstances report and mental health tribunal report as required.

To provide a direct link / liaison to GP practices as a mental health specialist advisor.

To assist clients with Welfare Rights / Benefits / Freedom Pass applications as necessary.

## Person Specification

### Previous Experience

**Essential**

- Minimum of 2 years post registration experience, one of which working with clients with mental health problems.

**Desirable**

- Experience of working with young people and/or people with psychosis.

### Special Requirement

**Essential**

- Ability to work flexibly and in a self-directed manner.

**Desirable**

- Car Driver/Owner with Full Driver's Licence

### Knowledge and Skills

**Essential**

- Ability to work under pressure in acute situations with minimal supervision.
- Ability to undertake evidence-based interventions with clients suffering from a range of mental health problems

**Desirable**

- To demonstrate an awareness of a wide range of skills including interventions specific to this service users group e.g. Family intervention. Relapse prevention

### Qualifications and Training

**Essential**

- RN(M) or SW or OT Qualifications.
- Evidence of further post-registration education and training

**Desirable**

- Relevant qualification in or experience of Psychosocial Interventions for people with psychosis.
