## Job Content

### Job overview

The Specialist Community Alcohol Worker provides flexible, community-based support and case management to adults who experience high-risk alcohol dependence and complex needs, including people who may have found it difficult to engage with conventional treatment services. The role is based out in the community and involves working in a range of settings, including people’s homes, community venues, GP surgeries, hospitals and other partner services. The postholder will hold and coordinate a caseload, building trusting relationships through a person-centred, trauma-informed and non-judgemental approach. They will complete timely assessments, develop care and risk plans, provide structured interventions, and work alongside the person and partner agencies to address barriers to engagement and support positive change. The purpose of the role is to support vulnerable adults towards alcohol abstinence, usually through planned residential detoxification and rehabilitation pathways, while providing appropriate harm reduction, preparation and relapse-prevention support.
