An opportunity has arisen to join the Colorectal cancer nurse specialists at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. ### Main duties of the job

The post holder will have a key leadership role as a senior nurse in the cancer multiprofessional team, providing support to patients throughout their cancer pathway. You will provide expert care and support to patients and their families, working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals and agencies to ensure high quality care. You will act as a role model and provide accessible, professional leadership at all times. You will provide specialist education and training for colleagues pertinent to their role, to support the professional development of others as well as your own. The role will include some management and strategic responsibilities in addition to report writing, data collection, audit and service development opportunities. You will promote evidence-based practice within the speciality through the integration of expert clinical practice, education, and displaying a commitment to nursing research.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trust’s policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary

In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.

- Patient User Involvement Groups

## Person Specification

### Education

**Essential**

- Evidence of Masters level study or willingness to work towards
- Relevant courses appropriate to clinical area
- Evidence of post registration education in Cancer/Tumour speciality or willing to commence within 6 months
- Recognised teaching qualification or willingness to work towards

**Desirable**

- Evidence of ongoing professional development

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- In depth expert knowledge of Speciality
- Knowledge of cancer terminology, pathways and treatments.
- Working knowledge of the current national NHS cancer agenda

**Desirable**

- Experience as a CNS

### Experience

**Essential**

- Relevant post registration experience at band 6 or above within cancer / palliative care speciality
- Leadership and management experience
- Experience of multi-professional working

**Desirable**

- Previous experience working at band 7 level

### Skills & Abilities

**Essential**

- Ability to work autonomously and as part of an effective MDT
- Ability to plan, organise, prioritise and delegate effectively and support staff
