Are you interested in working in a beautiful part of the country, in a friendly, dynamic and forward thinking team specialising in the treatment and care of cancer patients from across Cornwall?

We are looking to appoint a Cancer CNS Support Worker to work within the established Cancer Support Worker Team based within the Sunrise Centre.  Candidates must have extensive administration, and organisational skills along with excellent communication and people skills, ideally with a good understanding of NHS healthcare systems and processes.

This role has been approved for advertising; however, it is also being assessed as a suitable alternative employment opportunity. As a result, the vacancy may be withdrawn or there may be a delay before shortlisting can begin.

This role is open to all applicants. However, in line with Cornwall First recruitment principles, initial shortlisting will prioritise applicants from Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and the Integrated Care Board for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will also support the Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) by providing a robust administration and support service, which will involve managing phone calls, coordinating pathways and appointments, requesting diagnostics, expediting imaging requests, requesting transport, completing STRATA referrals and assisting with CNS clinic management and in some cases supporting patient groups and forums alongside the CNSs.  The post holder will also be expected to attended MDT's and support surveillance programs.

## Person Specification

### Skills

**Essential**

- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to collect data and input electronically

**Desirable**

- Experience in systems such as PAS, Maxims, CRIS, SCR, Scorpio, Winpath
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.

### Experiance

**Essential**

- Extensive administrative and organisational experience.
- Experience in the use of hospital computerised patient systems.

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of cancer pathways and treatments

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Diploma level qualification or equivalent experience e.g. good knowledge across a range of health or social care settings.

**Desirable**

- Courses/further study attended to demonstrate evidence of personal development.
- NVQ Level 3.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
