### Job overview

We are looking for a dedicated individual to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support in the development of the delivery of the Clinical and Forensic Psychology services provided by the Kolvin Service.

The Kolvin Service compromises a regional community adolescent forensic mental health service, a nationally commissioned FCAMHS provision; and integrated mental health and forensic service provision into two Secure Children’s Homes in the North East for young people aged 10-18 years. The post holder will need to be capable and adaptable to travel between sites when required.

The current position will be service wide post to meet developmental consolidation, experience and service need.  The post holder will be complementing and contributing to a developing a dynamic service and leadership provision.

### Main duties of the job

They will therefore need to be (commensurate with experience) confident in providing high quality evidence-based assessments and interventions, have experience of providing psychotherapies, formulation, trauma-informed care, multi-agency working / liaison and have an understanding and experience of working with young people with mental health, behavioural and emotional difficulties in complex environments.

A demonstrable research, audit and evaluation perspective and competency is required.

Developing and delivering staff training and methods of reflective practice will also form part of this role.

The post holder will possess excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to work independently. There will be a requirement to share knowledge and skills specific to the specialism to other members of the team including stakeholders.

Regular support, line management and clinical supervision will be available and provided. The post holder will be expected to actively engage in the supervision and the continuing professional development process

### Skills and Competencies

**Essential**

- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management. Skills in evidence based psychological interventions
- Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinical sensitive information to clients, their family, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.

### Knowledge and Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across range of care settings
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course with presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.
- Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex multivariable data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.

**Desirable**

- Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
- Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts

### Education and Qualification

**Essential**

- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and Neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society and the HCPC.
- HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist

**Desirable**

- Pre-qualification training and experience in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.

### Role/Team Specific Requirements

**Essential**

- Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multimedia materials for presentations within public, professional and academic settings
- Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate to support and maintain clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive behaviour

**Desirable**

- Experience of working within a multicultural framework.
