We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join our Community Eating Disorders Service. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified psychologist or someone looking to further develop their specialist skills within a well-established multidisciplinary team.

The service has recently been through a period of significant development, making this an exciting time to join. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the continued development of the service, bring fresh ideas and help shape future ways of working. Alongside a varied and rewarding clinical role, you will receive regular supervision, support from experienced colleagues and opportunities to develop specialist expertise in eating disorders and complex mental health presentations.

### Main duties of the job

You will provide psychological assessment, formulation and evidence-based interventions for adults experiencing eating disorders and associated. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to assessment, treatment planning, risk management and the delivery of high-quality, recovery-focused care.

The post holder will support the service's early intervention pathway, helping people access timely assessment and treatment and ensuring care is coordinated across the pathway.

The role also includes opportunities to contribute to consultation, teaching, service development, audit and quality improvement project's is a varied role that combines direct clinical work with opportunities to influence and improve service delivery.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Specialist theoretical and practical knowledge of psychology, including eating disorders and personality disorders
- Able to provide and receive highly complex, highly sensitive or highly contentious information, where there are significant barriers to acceptance which need to be overcome using the highest level of interpersonal and communication skills such as would be required when communicating in a hostile, antagonistic or highly emotive atmosphere
- Able to make judgements involving complex facts or situations, which require the evaluation of a range of options (e.g. the assessment of specialist clinical conditions and the determination of treatment options)
- Able to use database, word processing and test administration/scoring software
- Able to function in potentially traumatic circumstances and in highly emotionally distressing circumstances on a frequent basis (e.g. in dealing with service users with serious mental illness, self-harm, histories of sexual abuse

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of assessment and treatment of clients with a range of psychological needs of a complex nature
- Experience that supports working with, and addressing issues of, diversity within local communities. This may have been gained through work, research, volunteering and / or lived experience
- Experience of individual and group therapy with people with complex mental health needs.
- Experience of working with issues of risk and safety both physical and relational
- Experience of multi-disciplinary working.

**Desirable**

- Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision
- Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts
- Experience of administration, scoring and written interpretation of formal personality tools and/or neuropsychological assessments
- Experience of developing and carrying out audit/research projects)

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Honours degree (2:i minimum) in Psychology
- Full registration with the Health Professionals Council
- Post-graduate doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996)
- Qualification level that would allow acceptance as a BPS chartered clinical psychologist status
