### Main duties of the job

The Radiology Physics section of the Medical Physics department provides wide-ranging scientific and technical support to University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) and to other Acute, and community based Trusts across Staffordshire and Shropshire. We are seeking an experienced Clinical Technologist to work within the Radiology Physics section to undertake safety and performance tests, optimisation of image quality, quality assurance, and training. The post-holder will also work with radiographers and clinicians to support service developments.

For internal applicants only - a temporary secondment might be considered for applicants not meeting the full requirements of the person specification in the event that successful recruitment to the permanent role were delayed.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This post is within the Radiology Physics team at the Royal Stoke University Hospital site. The hospital is situated just 5 minutes from Junction 15 of the M6, providing excellent transport links north, south and east, together with immediate access to the beautiful countryside of Staffordshire, Shropshire and the Peak District.

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Technologist to work within the Radiology Physics section to undertake safety and performance tests, optimisation of image quality, quality assurance, and training. Please see attached job description and person specification for further details.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Minimum of 4 years full time equivalent in hospital based diagnostic radiology physics
- Attendance at numerous specialised nationally organised short course relevant to this job
- Knowledge of relevant radiation protection legislation and standards of good radiation protection practice as applicable to NHS work

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Honours degree BSc 1st or 2nd class
- Specialist Diploma from IPEM
- Registered with the Register of Clinical Technologists (RCT) with radiation physicist as the scope of practice
