An exciting opportunity for a Clinical Technologist / Dosimetrist to join a friendly and enthusiastic team in a busy Radiosurgery Physics department providing scientific and technical support to the National Centre for Stereotactic Radiosurgery.

The National Centre in Sheffield has been treating patients with Gamma Knife Radiosurgery since 1985. Sheffield was the first unit in the world to install the latest GammaKnife model, the Esprit, in 2023. The unit currently treats around 1000 patients per year.

### Main duties of the job

Job Purpose

- To provide clinical technical support to The National Centre for Stereotactic Radiosurgery including all aspect of patient treatment, dosimetry and quality assurance of Radiosurgery equipment.
- Take an active role in the provision of medical physics support for the stereotactic radiosurgery services, including the provision of technical support at all stages of the patient preparation, target localisation, planning and treatment processes.
- The post holder contributes to research projects as guided by the Section Chief Clinical technologist.

The successful candidate will join the Radiosurgery Physics team and Clinical Scientists and will participate in all aspects of the service including:

- Radiosurgery treatment planning (Elekta GammaPlan Software).
- Treatment delivery,
- Equipment quality assurance,
- Development and maintenance of our Quality Management System.
- Patient data analysis for service evaluation and the research and development activities of the department

### Experience

**Essential**

- (Band 5 & 6) Experience in the use of a range of software packages including Microsoft and their use in a scientific environment
- (Band 6) Significant Previous Radiotherapy planning experience.
- (Band 6) Experience in the use of physics in a Radiotherapy or Dosimetry setting.

**Desirable**

- (Band 5) Awareness of the use of physics in a Radiotherapy or Dosimetry setting
- (Band 5) Previous Radiotherapy planning experience.
- (Band 5) Previous Radiosurgery planning experience

### Personal Qualities

- (Band 5 & 6) Vocational Degree in Clinical Technology or equivalent degree in Physics/ Radiotherapy or related subject to satisfy the eligibility for the Register of Clinical Technologists.

**Desirable**

- (Band 5 & 6) Registration as a professional with the Register of Clinical Technologists (RCT)
- (Band 5 & 6) Registration as a professional upon the Health and Care Professionals Register (HCPC) or similar.
