Clinical Support Worker (Senior Healthcare Assistant) - Martha's Rule

Full time - 37.5 hours  - Monday to Friday

Cross-site working is required, with shifts likely to be across both Peterborough City Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital within the same working week.

For Band 3 appointments: NVQ / QCF Level 3 in a health-related subject or demonstrable equivalent experience supported by completion of a competency-based clinical skills framework

Interviews will be held face to face at Peterborough Hospital.

The Trust has implemented Martha’s Rule as part of our commitment to listening, acting, and ensuring safe, compassionate care. We have an exciting fixed term or secondment opportunity for a Martha’s Rule Support Worker to help patients, families, carers and staff raise concerns about deterioration and feel confidently heard.

This role is central to strengthening patient safety, supporting early escalation,  and fostering psychological safety across our wards and departments.

Working closely with the Critical Care Outreach Team to provide a calm, compassionate point of contact for patients, families and carers who are worried about a patient’s condition.

Work alongside clinical teams to ensure the Patient Wellness Questionnaire "how are you today compared to yesterday or when you were last asked" is asked daily and embedded into everyday practice.

Uphold the principles of the NHS Patient Safety Strategy, PSIRF, and Duty of Candour.

Support staff to manage difficult conversations, promoting a culture of openness and shared learning. Help gather immediate feedback following a Martha’s Rule call to support continuous improvement.

Maintain clear, factual records to ensure safe communication and follow‑up.

Collect data, complete analysis and contribute to board papers / reports.

### Key Skills

**Essential**

- Ability to communicate clearly in English in writing, via IT, verbally and using the telephone
- For Band 3 appointments: NVQ / QCF Level 3 in a health-related subject or demonstrable equivalent experience supported by completion of a competency-based clinical skills framework

### Experience and Knowledge

**Essential**

- Experience of working as a Healthcare Support Worker
- Experience of caring for patients in an acute setting

### Education and Qualifications

**Essential**

- Maths and English skills equivalent to Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy
- Completion of Care Certificate or equivalent experience
