### Job overview

We are seeking an experienced, full-time Clinical Support Worker to join our Outpatient Oncology/Haematology team at the Judy Beard Day Unit, Conquest Hospital. The unit comprises 17 treatment chairs and provides assessment and treatment for patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACT) and supportive care. We are a small, friendly team dedicated to delivering high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will have experience in a health or social care setting. It is desirable to have at least six months’ NHS experience within the last two years and to hold a Care Certificate. An NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or an equivalent Level 3 qualification, is also required.

### Main duties of the job

The role involves working four shifts over a six-day period, between 08:00 and 18:00, covering Monday to Saturday.

You will support trained SACT nurses to facilitate safe and efficient service delivery, including undertaking Aseptic Non-Touch Technique (ANTT) procedures.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- 12 months experience (current) in a Health or Social Care Environment

**Desirable**

- Six months (within the last two years) of experience of working in NHS

### Qualifications / Training

**Essential**

- Satisfactory General Education
- National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) Level 3 in Health and Social Care OR an acceptable, alternative Level 3 Qualification
- Care Certificate
- Demonstrable ability to acquire skills appropriate to provide Scope of Practice that is commensurate to clinical area

**Desirable**

- Evidence of additional Level 3 Vocational Training outside of main award. For example: standalone NVQ Level 3 Units; Specialist Training. For example: Dementia Care; Wound Care
- Acceptable evidence of experience and competence in skills required for specific clinical area

### Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

**Essential**

- Ability to work under instruction from a Registered Practitioner without direct support and supervision
- Good IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to provide written reports following care giving episode/event and support more junior colleagues in producing such reports

**Desirable**

- Central Venous Device Care (PICC/Portacath)
- Venepuncture/Cannulation
- Demonstrable aptitude to use specific equipment relevant to post being applied for
