Please come and join us as a band 3 Clinical Support Worker on ward 17, we are a 24 bedded respiratory ward that cares for patients who have Asthma, COPD, Lung Cancer and also level 2 patients who may be receiving Non-Invasive Ventilation, High flow Oxygen therapy and tracheostomy care.

We welcome applications from experienced clinical support workers (from NHS and private sector) and welcome applications from people who live the trust values of Respect Compassion Teamwork and Professionalism.

Part-time and Full-time hours are available; applicants must be willing to work over a 24-hour period per week. Shifts will be rotational both day and night, weekends and bank holidays.

### Main duties of the job

General band 3 job description

Assist in the delivery of respiratory care under supervision

Monitor and record vital signs, this would also include supporting patients receiving oxygen therapy and nebulizers as directed

Support the trained nurse in assisting under supervision the set-up of None invasive ventilation

Recognize and promptly escalate signs of deterioration

Document care accurately in patient records

Support the registered practitioner, and where appropriate, other members of the ward / department clinical team as required.

Assist in the maintenance of the patient’s individual hygiene requirements, including supporting/ undertaking fundamental patient care, such as washing, dressing, skin care, oral care, hair care, nail care etc. Ensure any concerns or changes in the patients' condition are reported to the registered practitioner.

Assist in the prevention of pressure ulcers, complete required documentation and report any concerns or changes in skin integrity to the registered practitioner.

You will be encouraged to develop on your already excellent communication skills, caring and compassionate nature, and willingness to learn and develop.

To assist in the preparation of patients for treatment, investigations or procedures as directed by the registered professional.

To keep the clinical area clean and tidy, maintaining a safe environment.

To adhere to Trust infection control procedures, demonstrating an understanding of cross infection.

To chaperone or escort patients as needed under the direction of the registered professional.

To support relatives demonstrating compassion and empathy under the guidance of a registered professional.

To assist with the discharge process for patients as directed by the registered professional.

Take all reasonable steps to ensure the safekeeping of patient’s property in accordance with Trust policy.

Promote a professional, welcoming and uncluttered environment; keep all storage areas safe, clean and tidy.

To share responsibility in the care and maintenance of all equipment in the clinical area including all equipment cleaning.

## Person Specification

### Skills

**Essential**

- NVQ Lv3 or equivalent experience
- Maths and English qualification at level 2
- Care Certificate or relavent hospital experience

**Desirable**

- Have worked within a hospital setting

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Must demonstrate a knowledge of the role and responsibilities of the post, clinical and non-clinical
- Must have a working knowledge or their responsibilities in relation to clinical risk management
- Must demonstrate an understanding of their roles and responsibilities in respect of education and development – their own and that of others

### Experience

- Have worked in an acute hospital setting
