## Job Content

### Job overview

We are looking for an experienced, credible and compassionate advanced clinician to join the Cumbria & Lancashire clinical leadership team as Clinical Support Manager.

This is a key Band 8a leadership role with responsibility for the day-to-day line management, clinical supervision, welfare and development of the area’s Advanced Paramedic Practitioner cohort. Working closely with the Area Consultant Paramedic and Sector Clinical Leads, the postholder will help ensure that advanced clinical resources are safe, effective and available to meet patient need.

The role combines people leadership, operational coordination, clinical governance and quality improvement with regular clinical practice at Advanced Paramedic Practitioner level. It offers an opportunity to influence patient safety, professional development and the delivery of advanced pre-hospital care across Cumbria and Lancashire.

### Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

- Provide visible, compassionate line management and clinical leadership for the Advanced Paramedic Practitioner team, including appraisal, wellbeing, performance, attendance and development.
- Deliver clinical supervision and operational contact time, supporting continuing professional development and assurance of enhanced skills and medicines governance.
- Plan and coordinate operational cover, rostering, abstractions, vehicles, equipment and consumables to support safe and effective service delivery.
- Maintain advanced clinical competence through regular clinical shifts and fulfil relevant clinical leadership functions at significant and major incidents.
- Work with Sector Clinical Leads to monitor clinical quality, audit findings, incidents, complaints, risks and performance indicators, translating learning into improvement.
- Coordinate complex case management and contribute to patient safety investigations and actions in line with the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework.
- Chair the Area Enhanced Care Forum and support learning across the area and wider regional clinical leadership network.
- Represent or deputise for the Area Consultant Paramedic when required and build effective relationships with operational teams, staff-side colleagues and external partners

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate compassionate and inclusive leadership, sound judgement, personal credibility and the ability to remain effective when priorities are complex or uncertain. You will be expected to role-model NWAS values—Working Together, Being at Our Best and Making a Difference—and our Be Think Do leadership philosophy. Please read the job description and person specification carefully and use your supporting information to explain clearly how you meet the essential requirements.

This Band 8a leadership appointment will follow the NWAS leadership recruitment approach, with a focus on values, behaviours, leadership style and potential as well as relevant experience.
