The Newcastle & Gateshead Homeless Mental Health Team have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Support Worker. This is a rare opportunity to work within one of CNTW's most unique services. This role involves supporting clients who have various mental health issues including psychosis, depression, anxiety, complex emotional needs, alongside homelessness.

The role involves supporting members of the team to deliver evidence based treatment and to engage in collaborative working across the multi-agency team.

Due to the nature of this role and the risks associated with our client group, this post has a Genuine Occupational Requirement to be filled by a male. This is in accordance with Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.

Working with a highly complex population, the team feel that this role would be ideal for someone with the following qualities and aspirations:

- Do you want to work with clients who can be hard to engage and are often socially excluded?
- Are you confident in your ability to offer assertive engagement aligned with a positive risk taking approach?
- Can you deliver high quality care, autonomously and part of a team which addresses complex needs in demanding environments?
- Are you keen to work with and develop collaborative networks with a range of service providers including Housing, Probation, Addictions, MAPPA, Local Authority and Safeguarding?
- Do you have a passion to make a difference in this specialised area of mental health provision?

### Main duties of the job

To assist in the delivery of care to service users who have a variety of needs, diverse presentations and a range of mental health conditions, cognitive and/or learning disabilities under the direction of a registered practitioner. The overall responsibility for the service user remains at all times with the registered practitioner.

To implement and evaluate care within a prescribed framework as a member of the care team ensuring that high quality, individualised care is delivered and that this promotes recovery and wellbeing and maximises independence.

To support the team in providing excellent and effective person centred care.

To provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity.

To actively engage with supervision and appraisal process as identified in Trust policy.

To offer interventions to service users requiring mental health support.

To attend clinical appointments as a second person.

You must have a strong commitment to the delivery of high quality, safe, patient care. ### Skills

**Essential**

- Good verbal and written communication skills. ICT Functional skills.
- Good and effective time Management
- Ability to work without direct supervision.

### Additional Requirements

- Ability to meet the mobility and geographical requirements of the post

### Knowledge and Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working/ volunteering in an appropriate care setting
- Experience of working with service users who have complex needs

**Desirable**

- Previous experience in a community setting
- Understanding of person centred care
- An awareness of homelessness organisations within the locality

### Education and qualification

**Essential**

- Senior Healthcare Support Worker or equivalent or working towards

**Desirable**

- Experience of working within a relevant clinical service
- GCSE A-C in maths and English or equivalent.
