We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Band 8a physiotherapist to join Therapy and Rehabilitation services in a part time role (21 hours per week) to work with and lead the orthotics clinic therapy team. The post holder will work closely with other 8a physiotherapists working in outpatients. This post works closely with well-established interdisciplinary teams and provides advanced clinical, managerial and leadership knowledge & skills in orthotics. ### Main duties of the job This position offers the opportunity to further advance skills in the assessment and management of patients with a wide range of complex and rare neurological disabilities. Effective communication and a positive approach to the management of complex disability are essential. Substantial post graduate physiotherapy experience, including significant experience in the assessment and treatment of adults with complex neurological conditions - Previous experience as a band 7 or 8a physiotherapist - Evidence of having supervised qualified therapy staff - Experience in initiating and undertaking audit and quality improvement projects to support clinical effectiveness and service development - Experience in use of orthotics in patients with neurological impairments. - Experience of active participation in organisation and participation of education programmes, teaching a wide range of groups, e.g. therapy colleagues, the multidisciplinary team and external agencies. - Evidence of a knowledge of the recruitment and selection process **Desirable** - Experience in initiating and undertaking research - Evidence in involvement in risk management, quality standard setting and clinical effectiveness - Evidence of working in an adult out-patient NHS service at a senior level ### Communication **Essential** - Able to communicate complex, sensitive and contentious information in an understandable form to patients, significant others and all other professionals involved - Effective written communication skills, including accurate record keeping using POMR system, and policy documents - Evidence of effective presentation and training skills to a wide-ranging audience e.g. peers, multidisciplinary teams and user groups, nationally and internationally - Degree / diploma in Physiotherapy - HCPC registered - Evidence of post-graduate training in neurosciences to the equivalent of modules at Masters level - Masters degree / working towards a MSc - Evidence of management training - Evidence of appraisal training - Demonstration of comprehensive knowledge of current evidence-based practice in neurophysiotherapy and orthotics. **Desirable** - Experience of working in the NHS - Member of the relevant professional society ### Personal and People Development **Essential** -
