- Department: Nuclear Medicine

We are looking for an experienced Clinical Scientist to join our section providing a Nuclear Medicine service to the people of the Highlands, west Grampian and Western Isles. Nuclear Medicine in Inverness is the most northerly in the UK and patients often travel from a distance to attend. We are a small, friendly multi-disciplinary team providing the service.

The Nuclear Medicine service is part of the Medical Physics department and is equipped with two gamma cameras, a GE 870DR and a GE Optima 640 SPECT-CT. Both cameras are linked to a network of GE Xeleris workstations. A comprehensive range of diagnostic studies and out-patient therapies is undertaken. The department has an on-site radiopharmacy operating under a Manufacturing Specials licence (currently suspended). The successful candidate will have an active role as part of the Nuclear Medicine team and be involved in all aspects of the work in the section.

The post holder will also be involved in training technologists and Clinical Scientists on the Scottish scheme for Medical Physics and is expected to contribute to MSc projects and other departmental research work. You should be HCPC registered and, ideally, be able to be entitled as a Medical Physics Expert in Nuclear Medicine. Candidates with less experience will be considered at a lower grade with local training provided.

Inverness offers a high standard of living in an area of outstanding natural beauty with unrivalled opportunities to enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities from walking to skiing, curling to climbing and everything in between. We have long hours of daylight in the summer and the Northern Lights in the winter. The city is easily accessed by road, rail and air.

Informal enquiries and visits to the department are encouraged. Please contact Joanne Prosser, Head of Nuclear Medicine (01463 706696). Alternatively email Joanne.Prosser@nhs.scot
