### Job overview

The Clinical Research Fellow (CRF) will be an integral part of the Cough Research team at King’s College Hospital. The primary focus will be to investigate the burden and prevalence of cough and symptoms of cough hypersensitivity in chronic respiratory diseases. In addition, the CRF will be part of the cough research team at King’s College Hospital, and will facilitate the everyday running of clinical trials on cough.

### Main duties of the job

To perform cough and respiratory physiology research procedures, including participant assessment, informed consent, clinical examination, questionnaires, capsaicin challenge test, respiratory muscle testing and research record keeping.

To facilitate successful enrolment and completion, the study may require commitment to working out of hours (time recognised in lieu).

To take responsibility for specific study-related medical decisions within their expertise, and, where appropriate, in consultation with the Study Investigators.

To take responsibility for the care of patients who are taking part in clinical trials and liaise with the study physicians as appropriate.

### Skills and Competencies

**Essential**

- Word processing skills
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives, GPs, and other agencies
- Good organisational and management skills
- Enthusiasm and ability to work under pressure

**Desirable**

- Basic statistical/data analysis knowledge

### Knowledge and Experience

**Essential**

- Ability to manage acute respiratory emergencies
- Knowledge of cough and respiratory physiology

**Desirable**

- Presentation of research findings at international meetings
- Personal commitment to respiratory research

### Education and Qualifications

**Essential**

- Full GMC Registration
- UK recognised medical degree
- Respiratory specialisation qualification (in progress or completed)
- ALS (or equivalent) certified
- Evidence of understanding of and adherence to the principles of Good Medical Practice set out by the General Medical Council

**Desirable**

- Intercalated degree (e.g. BSc)/ other qualifications
- GCP trained
