### Job summary

Applications are invited for a Clinical Research Fellow to commence as soon as possible until August 2026 within the NIHR.

### Main duties of the job

*Staff well clinic role (~10% of working time): Review any abnormal observations, blood results or ECGs and feedback to the staff well team on how to address them eg. Repeat staff well visit, inform GP. Including very infrequent face to face review if required.

*Sub-investigator roles(~90% of working time): In a variety of specialities such as: respiratory, oncology, endocrinology, neurology, psychiatry, nephrology, gastroenterology, and vaccine medicine. During these studies you many have different roles such as recruitment, consent, assessment of enrolment, monitoring patients during the trials, conducting procedures and assessments relevant to each trial.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- *At least 1 year of previous experience working in the NHS.
- *To be clear, fluent and articulate in communication in English.
- *Able to assess patients face to face and via telephone.
- *Good history & examination skills.
- *Able to formulate a working diagnosis.
- *Able to order appropriate investigations.
- *Image interpretation relevant to practice.
- *Ability to manage common medical emergencies.
- *Knows when to appropriately seek assistance from a senior colleague.

**Desirable**

- *Experience and interest in the specialty.
- *Neat, legible writing of notes and charts.
- *Ability to perform basic general procedures, including lumbar puncture (although training can be provided)
- *Experience in clinical research at F1/F2/ST1 level.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- *Primary Medical Qualification.
- *Full GMC registration
- *Satisfactory completion of Foundation Training (or equivalent).

**Desirable**

- *MRCP or equivalent.
- *Relevant higher degree.
- *ALS.
- *Up-to-date training in Good Clinical Practice.
