The position holder will undertake clinical examinations and study recruitment. ### Main duties of the job The role will involve using a range of traditional and the latest devices available on the market. The post will be under the direct supervision of Professor Lim. The results from these projects will form the basis of a research thesis for submission to King’s College London. The post holder will also be expected to: ### ·      participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care ### ·      participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities Clinical: The post holder will, together with colleagues, be responsible for the provision of glaucoma research services to the Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust to include: - a)    Diagnosis and treatment of patients of the trust in such hospitals, health centres or clinics or other premises as required. b)    Continuing clinical responsibility for the patients in your charge, allowing for all proper delegation to, and training of, your staff. c)     Have demonstrated commitment to a career in glaucoma d)    Lead and provide clinical supports to glaucoma research projects including commercial trials e)    Support the provision of the glaucoma service including clinics, ward & theatres f)      Contribute to the development overall of the research department & ophthalmology service g)    Participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care h)    Work with medical, nursing and managerial colleagues to ensure the high performance in outpatients. i)      Prepare scientific/research data to be presented at internal and external meetings in relation to the programme of research where relevant j)      Prepare, or contribution to the preparation of, manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals Training of junior staff: The postholder will take responsibility for the training and direction of junior staff allocated to him/her under aegis of the training plan that that postholder has agreed with their supervising consultant. Teaching: The postholder will be expected to contribute as appropriate in the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
