### Job overview

The Research & Innovation Division at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to undertake an exciting and challenging role in the Research & Innovation Biospecimen Service (RIBS). The service plays a key role in collection, processing and storage of human biospecimens to support clinical research. With a minimum of 2 science A-levels, or equivalent vocational qualifications such as a HNC or BTEC, you will have experience of working in a laboratory environment, preferably in the area of clinical trials or pre-analytics.

### Main duties of the job

You will work in a busy, modern laboratory undertaking initial processing of patient samples and data entry to support research studies and clinical trials.

Other duties will include the retrieval of samples from storage and distribution to other laboratories. You will also be expected to assist in the day-to-day operations of the laboratory e.g. stock ordering, cleaning, and equipment maintenance.

You will have experience of working in a laboratory environment, preferably in blood processing or in support of clinical trials. Previous experience gained in biological sample banking/archiving is desirable. Basic IT skills are essential and previous LIMS experience desirable. You must be able to work as part of a team, follow strict SOPs, and have meticulous attention to detail, good communication skills and a highly organised approach to your work.

Mainly based at North Manchester General Hospital, plus flexible working across other MFT sites as required. Candidates will be expected to work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays on an ad hoc basis as required) in order to deliver the necessary service.
