The Humber Alliance for Health and Care Innovation is an emerging programme of work that aims to create the infrastructure and environment where promising innovations can be generated, assessed, refined and deployed within care settings for the benefit of patients, services and wider care system.

This role is an opportunity to play an active part in delivering both research and innovation projects and supporting the development of structures that will simplify how multiple organisations work collaboratively.

Our aim is to recruit an individual who is passionate about delivering positive change and would embrace the opportunity to be involved in research and innovation, develop core clinical and academic skills, and learn how complex systems function across multiple organisations.

### Main duties of the job

- To support the development and growth of the Humber Alliance for Health and Care Innovation
- To deliver research and innovation projects under the general guidance of senior clinical academics using new research techniques and methods
- To analyse and interpret data and write up research for publication
- To analyse data and support the evaluation of innovation projects
- To assist in the commercial clinical trials that are undertaken in the department, enabling development of core skills required to become a principal investigator

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- Conduct individual and collaborative research and innovation projects to include:
- Using expertise to carry out projects they are working on
- Contribute to the preparing of proposals and applications for external bodies, e.g. for funding and contractual purposes with appropriate support or contribute to the writing of collective bids
- Analyse and interpret research data
- Write up research and innovation work for dissemination through case studies, conferences, presentations and publications
- Responsible for the management of projects to include:
- Plan and manage own innovation activity in collaboration with others
- Manage administrative activities with guidance if required
- Plan and monitor the work of projects they are leading on
- Develop and initiate collaborative working, internally and externally to include:
- Build internal contacts and participate in internal networks for exchange of information and to form relationships for future collaboration
- Develop links and join external networks to share information and identify future potential sources of funding or collaboration
- Work with colleagues on joint projects as required
- Attend and contribute to relevant meetings
- Demonstrate evidence of own personal and professional development to include:
- Appraisal, induction and performance reviews
- Participate in training and development activity
- Maintain links with professional institutions and other related bodies
- Collaborate with academic colleagues and local clinicians on areas of shared research interest
- Clinical Practice
- Undertake the role of a study doctor by acting as a sub-investigator for commercial clinical trials within the Castle Hill Hospital Respiratory Clinical Trials Unit.
- Support existing clinical trials where a medic is required as appropriate.
- There will be opportunities to undertake clinical work including outpatient clinics and other clinical duties associated with research projects if agreed by your academic supervisor
- Conform to all Trust protocols and regulations whilst performing clinical related duties
- Some indemnity will be provided by the NHS Trust however, doctors are advised to hold their own level of medical indemnity at the appropriate level.

## Person Specification

### Essential and Desirable

**Essential**

- Fully registration with the General Medical Council
- Experience working in the health care system and delivering care
- Demonstrate use of evidence-based practice
- Appreciation of the research process including Clinical
- Governance and Data Governance
- Ability to communicate effectively, to build rapport, listen, persuade, negotiate
- Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving skills
- Competent to work without direct supervision where appropriate
- Capable of working in a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work with meticulous attention to detail
- Flexible and open to proactively learning new skills and understanding new contexts
- Able to empathise, work co-operatively with others, in an open and non-defensive way
- Apply a non-judgemental approach to working with colleagues, regardless of their sexuality, ethnicity, disability, religious beliefs or financial status
