Senior Clinical Psychologist/ Counselling Psychologist/ Psychological Therapist: Band 8a, 18.75 hours per week.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Psychologist, or Psychological Therapist to be part of a well established and supportive psychological team working with clients presenting with significant mental health difficulties as part of the South Tyneside  Community Treatment Team (CTT).

The post sits within the non-psychosis pathway, offering interventions for service users with complex and enduring mental health difficulties including PTSD, dissociative disorders, personality difficulties and long standing affective disorders.

The successful candidate will be based at Palmer Community Hospital, Jarrow, within a large and established multi disciplinary team. Alongside colleagues from various disciplines, you will be central to providing a range of evidence- based psychological interventions, including CBT, EMDR, DBT, and CAT. The role also involves providing clinical supervision and scaffolding to the wider team. Furthermore, there are opportunities to link in with the wider psychology team across the locality to contribute training and research.

### Main duties of the job

The post-holder is responsible for providing a qualified specialist psychological therapy to clients in South Tyneside CTT, providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapeutic interventions, in addition to clinical supervision, advice and consultation to colleagues, and to other non-professional carers, on psychological aspects of evidence-based assessment, formulation, care and treatment.

The post holder will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring that high quality individualised care is delivered which ensures safety and a commitment to promoting recovery and wellbeing and maximising independence.

The post-holder will provide clinical supervision and clinical consultation/ advice in accordance with service needs.

The post-holder will take a lead role within the team for psychological treatments in the non-psychosis pathway, including responsibility for checking adherence to NICE guidance through clinical supervision and monitoring.

The post-holder will provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity.

The post-holder will contribute to training on a multi-disciplinary basis.

The post-holder will utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and other research within the remit of the post.

The post-holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures.

### Skills and Competencies

**Essential**

- Skills in managing emotional impact of dealing with highly emotive and distressing situations through self-management and use of the clinical supervision process.
- Specialist skills in evidence based psychological interventions.
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.

### Knowledge and Experience

**Essential**

- Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialist psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups relevant to the client group
- Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinical sensitive information to clients, their family, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
- Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex multivariable data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology./Substantial post qualification experience of specialist model specific psychological assessment, formulation and treatment of clients across a wide range of care settings.
- Evidence of continuing professional development as required
- Experience of providing clinical supervision.

### Education and Qualification

**Essential**

- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and Neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the HCPC and British Psychological Society/An Honours Degree in Psychology recognised for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society, or RMN, or equivalent degree level qualification in mental health
- HCPC registered practitioner psychologist or equivalent e.g. BABCP registered CBT practitioner. Member of an appropriate professional body
