### Job overview

We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist to work into one of our Inpatient Rehabilitation Adult Mental Health wards at St George's Park in Morpeth, Northumberland.  The service is part of the complex psychosis pathway.

This is a twelve month, 0.8WTE (4 days a week) role to cover maternity leave and support the team to continue to deliver psychological work within the pathway.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about promoting psychological thinking at every level and working with complex presentations and systems.  The successful candidate will be working as part of a small team of Psychologists into the ward.

The post holder will provide psychological assessments, formulations and interventions. This includes neuropsychological assessments.

The post holder will contribute to clinical discussions and decision making alongside the wider multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will facilitate team formulations and reflective practice as well as clinical supervision and consultation in accordance with service needs.

The post holder will be supported to undertake research, teaching and supervision experience as part of the role and we are keen to support individuals to pursue their interests and areas of expertise.

## Person Specification

### Skills and Competencies

**Essential**

- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management. Skills in evidence based psychological interventions.
- Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinical sensitive information to clients, their family, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.

**Desirable**

- Experience working with psychosis

### Knowledge and Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, and inpatient settings.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course with presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity, including severe and enduring mental health problems, psychosis and personality disorder. This includes maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the possibility of physical abuse.
- Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex multivariable data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.

**Desirable**

- Clinical experience working in inpatient settings

### Education and Qualification

**Essential**

- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and Neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society and the HCPC.
- HCPC registered practitioner psychologist
