### Job overview

The Greater Manchester Primary Care Mental Health Treatment Requirement service has a new and exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated qualified Clinical Psychologist.  The MHTR service support vulnerable adults in contact with the criminal justice system and provide a meaningful alternative to short custodial sentences, through addressing vulnerabilities that underly offending behaviour. We work closely with external agencies including probation to support a systemic approach to mental health difficulties in this population.

As the team provide support across all areas of Greater Manchester the ability to travel across the whole footprint is required, and you will need to apply for an enhanced DBS certificate and HMPPS clearance is an additional requirement of this position.

### Main duties of the job

You will be expected to hold a caseload, providing assessment formulation and intervention to people who have been sentenced to a primary care MHTR

You will be involved in supporting and developing risk formulation and support the risk management of people accessing the service

A key part of the role will be working with other agencies, predominantly those working in the crimianl justice system

Responsible for delivering supervision to assistant psychologists  in the team, with the potential for offering trainee placements

You will have the opportuity for the delivery of training both internally and externally

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will join a small team of qualified Psychologists, Assistant psychologists, Clinical team manager with dedicated Admin support. You will hold a small caseload delivering low intensity, one to one intervention. You will be supported by two experienced senior psychologists and be provided with regular supervision. You will have the opportunity to support ongoing development of the service through taking part in or leading on audits, service development projects and advise the Care Group leadership team on areas that will enhance service delivery

You will have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills through providing clinical supervision and guidance to assistant psychologists, and you will join the team in monthly group supervision, monthly reflective practice, and monthly CPD led by internal or external facilitators. You will have the opportunity to access both internal and external training to develop your own clinical skills as the team have a healthy training allowance.

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Ability to liaise with professionals and wider servcies
- Demonstrate understanding of interaction between mental health and offending behaviour
- Evidence of continuing CPD

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experienced in assessment, formulation and delivering psychologically informed treatment
- Experience of adopting a trauma informed approach
- Experience of conducting high quality risk assessments and implementing risk management plans
- Experience of providing high quality clinical supervision to psychological staff
- Experience of teaching and training other people in the principles of psychologically informed care

**Desirable**

- Experience of providing supervision to other professionals
- Experience of working within forensic settings or within the criminal justice system e.g. prison, probation, secure forensic facilities
- Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for people’s psychological care and treatment

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Qualified psychologist with HCPC registration

**Desirable**

- Post qualification training in a specialised area of psychological practice. e.g. EMDR, DBT, CAT
- Registered with the BPS

### Skills and Abilities

**Essential**

- Effective communication skills
- Organisation skills
- Use of supervision

**Desirable**

- Group delivery skills
