Our Clinical Education Team is dedicated to improving patient care and experience through the development of clinical skills, teamwork and evidence-based practice. We deliver high-quality education through workplace coaching, competency-based programmes and study events across Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

We are seeking a Band 7 Clinical Practice Educator to join our supportive team, delivering education across St Mary's, Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospitals. This varied and rewarding role offers opportunities to contribute to service improvement projects and educational initiatives within an Academic Health Science Centre and Pathway to Excellence accredited hospitals.

The role requires excellent leadership, communication and clinical skills, with the ability to motivate, coach and support others while maintaining high standards of patient care. Although formal teaching experience is not essential, you should have a passion for education, a commitment to improving surgical patient care, and a willingness to develop as an educator.

You will need to be a Registered Nurse with substantial experience in a surgical setting, current experience leading a clinical team, and some critical care skills. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, reflective, able to work independently and collaboratively, and thrive in a dynamic environment while contributing positively to our high-performing team.

### Main duties of the job

- The Clinical Practice Educator is responsible for creating and maintaining a positive learning environment that supports the delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based patient care. Working closely with Ward Managers, Matrons and the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will provide clinical education and leadership through bedside coaching, supervision and staff development across a variety of clinical settings.
- Approximately 80% of the role is spent in the clinical environment, supporting registered and unregistered staff to develop competence, confidence and professional practice. The post holder acts as an expert practitioner, role model and educational resource, promoting reflective practice and continuous learning.
- The role includes designing, delivering and evaluating education and competency-based training programmes, ensuring learning is inclusive and responsive to individual and cultural needs. The post holder will contribute to achieving educational objectives, support service improvement initiatives, and lead small projects aligned with Trust priorities.
- The Clinical Practice Educator will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, represent the Trust at meetings and educational forums, and contribute to research, audit and quality improvement activities. They will demonstrate strong leadership, effective communication and a commitment to professional development while driving positive change and enhancing the patient experience.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Significant recent and varied experience in acute surgical speciality
- Significant recent experience in managing or supervising a clinical team
- Experience caring for Level 2/3 critically unwell patients

- Demonstrates proficiency and originality in written English and articulated communication, sufficient to fulfil the job requirements
