This is a newly created part-time 8b psychologist post in Islington Services for Ageing and Mental Health. The postholder will lead and manage psychologists working across Islington older adult services and they will provide clinical interventions to clients in Islington Memory and Dementia Navigator Service.

### Main duties of the job

- The post holder will lead and manage the psychological professionals working in Services for Ageing and Mental Health (SAMH) across Islington ensuring delivery of high-quality evidence based psychological interventions. The postholder will be responsible for providing / ensuring clinical and management supervision to psychology staff in SAMH Islington.
- The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the psychology team understand and operate to the requirements of the service’s operational policies and strategy and that safe, evidence based, culturally competent and trauma informed care is delivered in a timely manner to service users.

The postholder will play a key role in expanding and developing service provision in line with national guidelines and local priorities and they will actively contribute to the evaluation of clinical services through audit and governance.

The post holder will be responsible for providing highly skilled psychological assessment and specialist intervention to clients in Islington Memory and Dementia Navigator Service. They will be expected to offer advice, consultation and support to other teams as needed.

The post holder will guide and support quality improvement, involvement in research and service and carer involvement / co-production.

The post holder will lead and manage psychological therapists working in Islington SAMH. They will ensure delivery of high-quality evidence based psychological interventions.

The postholder will be responsible for providing / ensuring highly specialist clinical supervision and management supervision to psychology staff in Islington SAMH.

The post holder will provide advice, consultation, teaching, training and supervision to other health and social care staff working in the service and in other associated services as appropriate.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the psychology team understand and operate to the requirements of the service’s operational policy and strategy and that safe, evidence based, NICE concordant, effective, culturally competent and trauma informed care is delivered in a timely manner to service users.

The postholder will play a key strategic role in expanding and developing service provision in line with national guidelines and local priorities and they will actively contribute to the evaluation of clinical services through audit and governance.

The post holder will be responsible for providing highly skilled psychological assessment and specialist intervention to highly complex clients in Islington Memory and Dementia Navigator Service and will be expected to offer advice, consultation and support to other teams as needed.

The post holder will guide and support quality improvement (QI), involvement in research and service and carer involvement / co-production.

The post holder will be responsible for developing the psychology workforce leading on recruitment, identifying training needs and managing gaps in service.

## Person Specification

### Skills/ Abilities

**Essential**

- Highly developed skills in the use of a range of methods of psychological assessment (including neuropsychological assessment), intervention and management for the full range of problems of severity and complexity presented in OA mental health including challenging behaviours and complex emotional need.
- Highly developed skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups and in providing Reflective Practice and staff Debriefs.

### Experience/ Knowledge

**Essential**

- Substantial post-qualification experience working with the client group of the post or a related client group.
- Experience of the management of qualified applied psychologists and/or psychological therapy staff
- Experience of leading and contributing to service development

### Qualification & Registration

**Essential**

- Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology and current registration with the Health & Care Professions Council as a clinical psychologist or a counselling psychologist
- Completion of further post-qualification specialist training in areas of practice relevant to the post
