Come and join our nursing team in Merton CAMHS. We have developed an opportunity for a Nurse Prescriber, with previous CAMHS experience working across our single point of access (SPA) and Tier 3 team, supporting the ADHD pathway.

Merton Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) service provides out-patient and consultation services to children experiencing a range of mental health and developmental difficulties. We are an experienced and supportive team looking for an experienced, enthusiastic nurse to join our friendly team.

The service also includes a Single Point of Access Service which manages all referrals for children and adolescents in Merton where there are concerns about emotional heath/mental health difficulties. The Merton T3 service and the SPA work in close collaboration to ensure positive child and young person journey

Merton CAMHS Tier 3 is a multidisciplinary team specialising in the provision of thoughtful high-quality assessments and evidence-based treatments for children, young people and their families entering the service with moderate to severe mental health problems and with high risk profiles.

### Main duties of the job

We are looking for a committed and experienced Nurse who is passionate about working with children and young people with complex presentations, and who is also interested wider service development initiatives.

This role is open to qualified nurses with the following:

- Qualification as Nurse registered with the NMC
- Prescribing Qualification
- Experience of working with children and young people
- Experience of work within a multi-disciplinary team
- The ability to relate and provide accessible services to a diverse community
- The ability to efficiently manage a caseload
- Knowledge and skills in risk management and safeguarding
- Ability to offer assessments, offer individual and group intervention and liaison with the network.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Clinically, the post holder will manage a highly specialist service for children and young people with ADHD and co-morbid mental health difficulties, contributing to specialist assessment & management and leading on co-ordinating the Nurse-led medication review clinics within the service, including independent non-medical prescribing.

To manage a caseload, providing the analysis of complex information to determine the planning and management of assessment and treatment to C&YP with ADHD and comorbid mental health and neuropsychiatric difficulties.

To provide expertise in this highly specialist clinical area and to offer advice and consultation on clients care to other members of the team, in relation to the area of expertise.

To offer training in assessment and interventions for CYP with ADHD to CAMHS and other professional networks.

To liaise with medical colleagues, partner agencies and adult mental health professionals across a range of settings.

To work autonomously within professional practice guidelines and Trust guidelines.

To contribute to policy and service development, undertake research, service evaluation and audit for own team/service and to contribute to the training of the clinical team and others.

To work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

To work alongside and in partnership with medical colleagues in delivering treatment in the most timely and efficient manner

To actively prescribe for service-users once annotated to professional and Trust registers.

To actively manage a defined caseload within a specified service where non-medical prescribing will enhance service delivery.

To conduct comprehensive service user treatment reviews, which involves a range of assessments and tailored interventions, enabling service users to maintain their concordance with prescribed medicines.

To actively access CPD opportunities regarding non-medical prescribing via Trust based supervision groups and other appropriate workshops agreed through line manager to maintain competency.

To participate in research and audit programmes both locally and nationally which pertain to evaluation of non-medical prescribing and the potential benefits to service users.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- MSc qualification related to or equivalent with evidence of a comprehensive portfolio including experience of specialist mental health assessment and treatment with children and young people with mental health difficulties, emotional, behavioural, and relational problems, and their families, including looked after children.
- Minimum of 12 months experience working as a non-medical prescriber with a CAMHS service.
- Experience of working with children and young people with ADHD.
- Experience of managing complex and high-risk cases.
- Experience of consultation to, and clinical supervision of, other staff.
- Experience of providing teaching and training to multidisciplinary groups.
- Experience of working with children and families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Experience of developing and carrying out research projects with troubled children and young people.
- Experience of supervision of other staff.
- Experience of clinical leadership and providing clinical support for practitioners across disciplines including recruitment, supervision, and appraisal.
- Experience of multi-agency collaboration and integrated working.

### Training & Qualifications

**Essential**

- First level nursing qualification (registration RMN or RSCN or HV) / with related CAMHS experience and MSc level qualification or equivalent with evidence of a comprehensive portfolio of post registration
- Professional development in child and adolescent mental health including evidence of clinical, audit and/or research presentations at local and national CAMHS events and evidence of publication of articles or the production of strategic reports which have advanced CAMHS.
- All applications will require professional registration with a statutory body e.g., the Nursing Midwifery Council, General Social care council, Health professional's council or applicable psychological or psychotherapies body.
- Non-medical prescriber with appropriate NMC registration
- Formal training in supervision.

**Desirable**

- Additional specialist post qualification training such as ADOS; SAVRY; ADI; CAI; Fostering Changes; Parent / Child Game.
