Job Summary Interventional Radiology Theatres are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Nurse, preferably with Interventional Radiology (IR) experience, to join the team as a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist. Are you a motivated and compassionate practitioner who can communicate effectively and work collaboratively with wards, community GPs, referrers, healthcare providers and patients? Are you passionate about ensuring safe, effective patient pathways for both elective and acute patients undergoing interventional radiology procedures? You will primarily be based at the SJUH site, coordinating care for patients within an agreed caseload across a range of specialties, including Hepatobiliary, Renal, Hepatology, and Respiratory services. As a key point of contact for patients and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will provide a comprehensive, wrap-around model of care. You will ensure patients are fully informed about their upcoming procedures and actively support their pre-procedure assessment, optimisation, care, and procedural planning. Working closely with the Interventional Radiology MDT, you will be an autonomous practitioner who is confident within your field and committed to delivering the highest standards of patient care. We provide care of the conscious patients undergoing elective and acute, diagnostic and sometimes complex multi-organ vascular procedures such as embolisation of tumours and haemorrhage, angioplasty, stenting, nephrostomy insertion, tumour ablations, and acute urological and vascular procedures and stroke thrombectomy. What you will bring to the role The Jobholder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload. The jobholder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care. The jobholder will provide specialist nursing care, treatment and advice to a specific patient group and will contribute to the development of the speciality service. The jobholder will ensure cost effective use of resources.
