We are seeking a dynamic, motivated and innovative Registered Nurse to join our integrated Tissue Viability team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Based at the Northern General Hospital, the Tissue Viability Team provides expert advice across the organisation, both in the acute and community settings, to patients and health care professionals alike, working in partnership to ensure best patient outcomes.

The provision and delivery of Tissue Viability education is a key component of this role; the successful candidate will therefore be expected to regularly deliver both informal and formal training and education to all disciplines of staff, in order to facilitate improvements in pressure ulcer prevention / management, lower leg assessment /  management and wound management.

The successful candidate will  be expected to travel across all the hospital sites and the community setting of Sheffield, therefore a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this post.

Working autonomously, utilising specialist knowledge and skills, you will undertake clinical assessments of patients with a wide range of Tissue Viability needs, in order to formulate and advise an appropriate plan of care,

Through the delivery of training and education and partnership working, you will support the development of Trust staff in all aspects of Tissue Viability related care, empowering them to deliver the highest standard of holistic care to patients.

As a specialist nurse, you will participate in the development and delivery of Tissue Viability related projects and campaigns, implementing national recommendations and advocating best practice in order to ensure evidence based care is adopted across the organisation.

You will contribute to achieving the Trust objectives and reducing patient harm by implementing and supporting quality improvement strategies in relation to pressure ulcer prevention and other patient safety  priorities.

The Tissue Viability Team work within the Chief Nurses Office and, as such, are role models for the organisation, leading by example,  demonstrating and promoting exemplary STH PROUD values and behaviours at all times.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Relevant post registration experience e.g. Tissue Viability, Burns and Plastics, Vascular, Dermatology, Lymphoedema
- Experience of, and understanding of the importance of, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Ward / department / unit level managerial experience
- Experience of working autonomously and managing own workload
- Experience of working under pressure
- Evidence of informal teaching in a clinical setting

**Desirable**

- Evidence of formal teaching

- Able to evidence clinical knowledge and skills in Tissue Viability: holistic patient assessment, complex wound assessment, treatment planning and evaluation
- Understanding of principles of wound management and healing, including use of contemporary wound dressings and technologies
- Understanding of principles of pressure ulcer prevention and management, including different types of pressure redistributing equipment
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills – supportive, sensitive, empathetic and approachable manner
- Ability to manage change, both personally and as a facilitator
- Knowledge of national and local context of healthcare; especially linked to the speciality of Tissue Viability
- Understanding of standard setting / audit / research, and application to clinical practice

### Education and Qualifications

**Essential**

- Registered Nurse
- Current NMC registration
- Has, or is able to demonstrate evidence of working towards, a healthcare degree
- To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998
- Evidence of undergraduate or postgraduate study in Tissue Viability or a related subject e.g. Burns and Plastics, Vascular, Dermatology, Lymphoedema
- Evidence of continuing education and professional development

**Desirable**

- Evidence of a recognised Tissue Viability and / or Leg Ulcer Management qualification
- Nurse prescriber qualification
