An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the specialist nursing team at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder would have a distinct level of responsibility to patients with skin and melanoma cancers, as well as expert knowledge in immunotherapy as a treatment modality, and provide a comprehensive specialist nursing service to the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, working within a team of advanced clinical nurses. The successful candidate will have excellent clinical skills with significant as a CNS within this area. They will act as a clinical role model, promote effective multidisciplinary team working, support staff development and contribute to service improvement and patient experience. In addition to this the post holder will act as a resource and consultant to provide information and support to patients, carers and staff.

### Main duties of the job

- To provide professional and clinical leadership and expertise in the care of the NHS and private care patients with skin and melanoma cancers, acting as a resource to provide information and support to patients, carers and staff.
- To take responsibility for own evidence based practice and implement and add to the body of knowledge that supports nursing practice within Skin and Melanoma care, with a focus on immunotherapy as a treatment modality.
- To liaise effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary health care team so as to achieve a synchronised specialist service.
- To provide informal and formal teaching, e.g. academic courses provided by the School of Nursing.

- To sustain a high quality specialist service for the patient, from diagnosis through all stages of the disease and actively provide optimum liaison and continuity of care.
- To use advanced clinical judgement to plan, implement and evaluate care for patients throughout their cancer pathway
- In collaboration with the existing Clinical Nurse Specialists, to formulate and/or revise relevant policies and to regularly review this following change/implementation.   To work within the procedures and policies of the Trust.
- In conjunction with the existing Clinical Nurse Specialists, to develop assessment tools that will ensure an appropriate level of nursing intervention so that patients with complex needs are referred to the appropriate specialist/s.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience in intravenous drug administration
- Sufficient post registration nursing experience in oncology at band 6 or above
- Experience of working as a CNS
- Experience in at least one Oncological treatment modality (systemic anti-cancer treatment, surgery or radiotherapy)
- Experience in Clinical Management
- Evidence of relevant teaching experience
- Knowledge and understanding of care of patients with cancer

### Education/Qualifications

**Essential**

- NMC Registration
- Evidence of on-going professional development
- Educated to Degree level
- Recognised teaching / mentorship qualification
- Post graduate qualification in oncology or other speciality
- Evidence of Masters level learning or prepared to work towards

### Skills Abilities/knowledge

**Desirable**

- Venepuncture and/or cannulation skills
