### Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Pain Management Service at Barts Health, based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. Working alongside the Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist, and Consultant Anaesthetists, you will contribute to the delivery of specialist inpatient and transitional pain services. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced pain nurse to further develop their expertise while helping to shape and improve the service.

### Main duties of the job

We are seeking a registered nurse with recent specialist pain management experience at Band 6 or 7 level and evidence of postgraduate study in pain management. The successful candidate will be committed to compassionate, person-centred care and a biopsychosocial approach, recognising the physical, psychological and social factors that influence a person's pain experience. Excellent assessment, communication and multidisciplinary working skills are essential, together with a commitment to shared decision-making.

The role includes contributing to service development, quality improvement and innovation projects that enhance patient outcomes and experience. We are looking for a motivated practitioner who is passionate about improving the lives of people living with pain, demonstrates leadership in clinical practice, and is keen to support the ongoing development of a progressive, patient-centred pain management service.

### Skills

**Essential**

- - High standard of clinical skills.
- - Excellent inter-personal skills.
- - Good personal organisation skills, able to work independently & part of a team.
- - Effective teaching skills (informal & formal)
- - Computer skills using Microsoft packages
- - Managerial Development

### Experience

**Essential**

- - Recent clinical nursing experience (adult)
- - Extensive experience in Acute and Chronic Pain Management at Band 6 or above
- - Experience of nurse-led clinics

**Desirable**

- - Experience of Audit processes
- - Participation in research projects
- - Participation in quality assurance projects
- - Presentations at appropriate forum

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- - R.N. (adult nurse)
- - Relevant 1st Level Degree or Significant
- - Experience in similar Band 7 Post
- - Additional qualification in Pain Management or relevant specialty e.g. Palliative Care, Rheumatology or Rehabilitation.

**Desirable**

- - Clinical Supervision/ mentorship qualification, E.N.B. 998 or equivalent (inc experience)
- - Nurse Independent Prescriber
- - Relevant MSc, preferably in pain management
