### Job overview

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Allergy Clinical Nurse Specialist (2 days/15hours, fixed term contract until March 31, 2027) within the Chest and Allergy service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Our allergy service is the longest established Allergy clinic in the UK.

This is a fully comprehensive, nationally commissioned Allergy service. Our dynamic Allergy CNS Team provides outpatient services across the Trust.  Working within our multidisciplinary team the post holder will be expected to deliver nurse-led outpatient clinics, support the food and drug allergy day case services and work alongside the medical and nursing team to deliver our immunotherapy service.

Awareness of the current issues in allergy management is essential in order to provide high quality specialist nursing assessment, evidence-based intervention and self-management support for our patients. Teaching experience is also highly desirable as is the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.

This is a great opportunity for any individual who has an interest in this speciality and who is willing to undertake training appropriate to the post. We offer a comprehensive in-service training and induction programme, expect critical thinking and a commitment to self-directed learning. Internal and external courses are encouraged and supported while an established appraisal system facilitates career development and progression

- Provide high quality nursing care and support for patients and their carers with allergy within ICHNT and in liaison with the multi-disciplinary teams and community respiratory teams.
- Work within the scope of the service, which includes assessment, diagnostic testing, diagnosis, planning treatment and discharge planning.
- To enhance skills and educate health care professionals within ICHNT in managing patients with allergic diseases.
- To act as a resource for patients and families.
- Participate where appropriate in nursing research and contribute in local and national audit.
- Participate in annual report of CNS service and outcomes.
- Active involvement in the development of the service locally and nationally in line with NICE/BTS/BSACI guidance.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Significant demonstrable post registration nursing experience and experience with caring for patients with respiratory and allergy conditions.
- Evidence of experience in medicines management and in delivery of nurse-led services
- Evidence of experience in health education or health promotion with focus on supporting patients with self-management
- Leadership skills
- Computer and IT software literate.

**Desirable**

- Experience in diagnostic skin prick testing
- Competent in cannulation
- Competent in IV administration
- Intermediate life support training

### Education/ Qualifications

**Essential**

- NMC Registered Nurse
- Evidence of Postgraduate study/ Relevant courses/ training in allergy
- Teaching and assessing qualification- ENB 998 or equivalent or relevant experience
- Knowledge of research and audit including implementation of findings and review of outcomes
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Ability to practice within the scope of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
- Excellent level of English language demonstrated through effective written and verbal communication skills
- Evidence of Postgraduate study in allergy

**Desirable**

- Masters level degree
- Mentorship course or other teacher training
- Advanced assessment skills
- Non-medical prescriber
