There is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated practitioner to join the Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (Band 7) on a 1 year Fixed term contract to cover Maternity leave.  You will be fully supported within your role and there will be enormous opportunities for you to advance and develop your knowledge, skills and confidence when caring for patients with cancer.

### Main duties of the job

The purpose of the post is to manage and provide expert specialist clinical practice for both outpatient and inpatients (NHS and private patients). The CNS should be leading in the use of evidence based clinical practise in line with current research, guidelines and other available evidence. You should ensure that patients and their families are fully informed about their journey through the service (dependant on speciality). Utilise other members of the MDT when required to increase knowledge and skills to ensure delivery of reliable high quality care.

You will work autonomously, coordinating patient care and supporting patients with sarcoma and patients with metastatic disease requiring orthopaedic surgery.

The purpose of the post is to manage and provide expert specialist clinical practice for both outpatient and inpatients (NHS and private patients). The CNS should be leading in the use of evidence based clinical practise in line with current research, guidelines and other available evidence. They should ensure that patients and their families are fully informed about their journey through the service (dependant on speciality). Utilise other members of the MDT when required to increase knowledge and skills to ensure delivery of reliable high quality care.

Demonstrate comprehensive holistic assessment of patients utilising a variety of advanced clinical skills, while acting as a role model, in line with your Clinical Nurse Specialist role for your service.

Influence effective multidisciplinary teamwork and communication between health, social and voluntary organisations to deliver co-ordinated, seamless care.

Co-ordinate/manage any relevant clinics for your service or/and be prepared to develop such clinics to benefit your patient group.

Organise blood tests and other appropriate investigations for your speciality (dependant on your skill level and training). Interpret the investigation results (ensure red flags are noted) and make appropriate plan of care, liaising with consultant of the speciality/GP, as required, regarding future treatment and management dependant on your speciality.

Provide an effective and accessible telephone advice service for patients and families and their carers.

Ensure patient records are maintained in an accurate, legible, complete and timely manner.

Be available to offer advice on all aspects of your speciality, providing clinical advice and supporting Trust staff in meeting the standards and protocols in delivery of care for your speciality. Where appropriate give advice and support on your speciality to staff outside of the Trust

### IT Skills

**Essential**

- Established competency in IT including Word, Windows 10, Powerpoint, Excel and Microsoft Office
- Experience of NHS/healthcare or equivalent IT systems
- Computer literacy, including remote working and the use of iPads
- Presentation skills

**Desirable**

- Advanced IT skills

- Experience of the provision of holistic needs assessments and care planning, provision of health and wellbeing support and base line observations
- Self motivated and ability to motivate others whilst remaining sensitive to individual needs
- Exceptional attention to detail

### Knowledge, Training & Experience

**Essential**

- Professional Healthcare Registration RGN/RN, First degree or willingness to undertake
- Practice Supervisor/Assessor' qualification or equivalent
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Evidence of developing and delivering teaching programs in your speciality
- Good understanding of working within a multidisciplinary team
- Understands the requirement to work within own professional scope of practice

**Desirable**

- Intermediate/advance IT training skills
- Specialist course (post registration)
- Experience working with patients with complex needs
