**Clinical Nurse Manager**

We are looking to fill an inpatient Clinical Nurse Manager position (Band 7) for Ludgate Ward, the Trust's new 10-bedded male acute admission ward set to open in October 2026. This presents a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Clinical Practice Lead, whether from within ELFT or outside the organisation, to take the next step into a ward manager role on our acute unit.

Ludgate Ward will be located within our Medium Secure services, with a mission to provide safe, individualised, and specialist care for detained in-patients who have complex needs. This is an exceptional chance to lead continuous development and improvement in nursing practices, ensuring high-quality care for our patients. The role calls for visible and inclusive leadership, working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team and other services across our organization.

In this position, you will also support initiatives focused on maintaining relational security, providing trauma-informed care, and reducing restrictive practices within the service. ### Main duties of the job

- Developing the teams’ ability to ensure that a service user centred multi-disciplinary approach to care is present.

- Ensuring the team provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluating care in keeping with evidence based practice.

- Lead in direct care to complex service users or groups of service users and role model to junior staff.

- To provide specialist guidance to junior staff relevant to clinical speciality.

- Ensuring that a high standard of practice is maintained in relation to the detention of mentally ill clients under the Mental Health Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. Ensuring that least restrictive practices are promoted within individual care.

- Support the team to develop and implement specialist programmes of care which could include individual and group interventions.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Significant experience of management and leadership roles at band 6 level or above
- Working with people with mental health problems/ learning disabilities
- Managing challenging and aggressive behaviour
- Working within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Experience of providing individualized and culturally sensitive care
- Supporting and supervising students and junior staff

**Desirable**

- Evidence of quality improvement

### Knowledge and Skills

**Essential**

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of quality improvement practices
- Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for complex patients
- Minimising clinical risk and reducing restrictive practices
- Ability to recognize and manage stress, in self and others
- Emotional Intelligence and Personal Resilience
- NMC Code of Conduct
- Current Developments in nursing
- Knowledge of supervision and reflective practices

**Desirable**

- Ability to lead and develop a team
- Knowledge of implementing strategy, change management and practice development

### Education/ Qualification/ Training

**Essential**

- Registered Nurse (Mental Health) OR Registered Nurse (Learning Difficulty) OR Registered Nurse (Adult)
