Applications are invited to apply for this post who would like to develop their career in a forward thinking, award winning and technically advanced radiotherapy department at The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough.

Our focus is to continually improve patients’ experiences and outcomes and you will be supported by a friendly, committed multi-disciplinary team of staff striving to ensure the delivery of excellence in all aspects of patient care.

We work between two sites within the hospital, following the build of The Endeavour Unit, an award winning state of the art radiotherapy facility.

You will:-

- Act as an expert practitioner, providing expert technical advice in treatment and particularly in own specialist technical area
- Responsible for managing day to day workload and working hours across the treatment service
- Responsible for day to day staff management across the treatment service
- Responsible for the implementation of policy across own specialist area and the treatment service
- Responsible for suggesting and implementing service development across own specialist area and the treatment service

### Main duties of the job

The department is currently equipped with 6 Elekta Agility machines with IGRT/IMRT capability, which provides scope for our expanding technological and professional development including DIBH with SGRT, stereoscopic 2D imaging, stereotactic body radiotherapy, VMAT treatment delivery and flattening filter free technology.

The department is also equipped with a Superficial Unit. Pre–treatment imaging consists of Siemens and Toshiba wide bore CT scanners with associated ProSoma virtual simulation software. We have an active brachytherapy service, treating a variety of sites using our Nucletron remote after-loading brachytherapy unit.

Treatment plans are produced using Monaco and Raystation. Mosaiq is currently used for electronic data transfer throughout the radiotherapy department.

We are a forward thinking department and support radiographers in their clinical development to advanced practitioner level and we have recently appointed our first Consultant Radiographer.

Our radiographers are fully involved in the MDT approach to developments within the department. The department has a major commitment to evidence based practice, and participates in multi-centre clinical research trials, led by our Radiotherapy Research Team. Ongoing professional development is supported and encouraged.

Successful applicants will be highly motivated and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and rotate through treatment and pre-treatment areas.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Significant and extensive treatment planning experience following qualification
- Leadership experience

### Knolwedge & Skills

**Essential**

- Proven track record of preparing complex RT plans and independent plan checking.
- Experience of project management and managing process change
- Proficient at audit and critical appraisal

**Desirable**

- Experience of Dosimetrist led target definition and / or plan approval processes

### Qualifications & Training

**Essential**

- BSc Hons, Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip), Radiotherapy or equivalent
- Registered with the Health Care Professions Council
- Evidence of continuing professional development
