The Clinical Flow Coordinator is a key member of the Patient Flow Team, working closely with clinical, nursing and operational colleagues to coordinate patient movement throughout the hospital. You will support effective bed utilisation, facilitate timely admissions, transfers and discharges, and help ensure safe and efficient patient pathways.

Using real-time information and strong communication skills, you will coordinate activities across multiple departments, balancing competing priorities while maintaining a patient-centred approach.

### Main duties of the job

The Clinical Flow Coordinator is responsible for the safe, effective, and efficient management of inpatient bed capacity across the Trust. The post holder will utilise advanced clinical knowledge and professional judgement to ensure appropriate patient placement, optimise patient flow, support timely admissions and discharges and maintain patient safety at all times.

The role provides operational leadership for bed management, emergency and elective patient flow, escalation processes, and site coordination, ensuring the best use of available resources while supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care and organisational performance targets.

- NMC Registered Nurse (within appropriate branch) or HCPC Registered Allied Health Professional
- Masters’ level qualification in nursing or health related field or equivalent demonstrable working experience
- Evidence of commitment to continuous professional development

- Postgraduate level qualification (diploma or advanced training)

### Experience / Knowledge

- Relevant extensive working clinical experience as a nurse/or practitioner
- Experience in working with multidisciplinary teams to advise on best practice and influence decision making
- Experience in working within an efficient team
- Experience of using evidence based tools to shape decision making
- Expert knowledge of clinical policies, processes, guidance and best practice both locally and nationally
- Knowledge and understanding of the NHS Model Discharge Pathway

- Working knowledge in using operational tools and systems involved with providing care metrics: EPIC, Safe Care, Safer Nursing Care Tool (SNCT) etc..
