The Department, which is the largest in South East of the UK, has an extensive referral base within the SE London, Kent, Sussex and Surrey area with more than 75% of regional referrals coming to Kings.  This hub and spoke network is a model for the sharing of patient care between centre and unit. ### Main duties of the job Applications are invited to work in the Department of Haematological Medicine at King’s College Hospital, for an initial period of 6 months. This is an exciting opportunity to join a centre of excellence specialising in haemato-oncology, bone marrow transplantation, haemoglobinopathy, coagulation and transfusion medicine. Our integrated haemato-oncology and transplant service has 4 dedicated wards treating all forms of haematological malignancy as well as marrow failure disorders. It carries out all forms of autologous and allogeneic transplantation and has an active cell and gene therapy program. The Department looks after approximately 1200 adults and children with Sickle Cell disease. King’s is an NHS Exemplar Centre for prevention and management of venous thromboembolism (VTE), and has a large multi-disciplinary Anticoagulation and Clinical Thrombosis Team. The Haematology medical team comprises 30 Consultant Haematologists, 1 Clinical Lecturer, 14 Specialist Registrars, 5 Senior Clinical Fellows and 11 SHOs. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities This post is for a full time clinical fellow (ST3+) within the Department of Haematological Medicine at King’s College Hospital Foundation Trust. This post will join the haematology specialist trainees rota. This will provide broad experience in haemato-oncology, laboratory and general haematology, haemoglobinopathy, paediatric haematology and thrombosis. This position will be an ideal opportunity to develop supervised experience in haematology, and for more experience candidates to explore an area of interest. Appointees will be expected to undertake both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and research is encouraged. The appointee must have (or be eligible for) GMC registration. A medical degree or diploma and MRCP (or equivalent) from a recognised UK or overseas University or Institution is required. The appointment will be initially for a period of 6 months with the potential for renewal.
