### Clinical Fellow in General Paediatrics

### University Hospital Wishaw

NHS Lanarkshire is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team who would relish the opportunities and challenges of delivering high quality care across Lanarkshire in both the community and child protection service

The post would entail working in a busy District General Hospital in General Paediatrics at the University Hospital Wishaw.

The successful candidate would participate on the middle grade rota (tier 2) providing first on call responsibilities for paediatrics. You would be working in a resident capacity alongside other junior trainees and supported by senior trainees, SAS doctors and consultants. You would be involved in assessment of patients referred to acute paediatrics, and involved in care of those patients admitted to the ward. You would take the referral calls out of hours and make clinical decisions or provide advice in keeping with guidelines. You would gain experience in paediatric procedures and gain experience in how to manage common paediatric presentations and broaden knowledge of complex patient.

Scheduled weekly teaching sessions include weekly grand round and Thursday consultant teaching. Although not a recognized training post you would receive similar training to those in training posts.

We welcome applications from doctors wishing to work less than full-time and those wishing to pursue further training to develop a specialist interest, including Paediatric Visual Impairment. Interested candidates are encouraged to contact us for an informal discussion.

**Essential**

- Satisfactory medical clearance by NHS Lanarkshire Occupational Health Service.
- Satisfactory PVG Check.
- Fluent in medical English and evidence of ability to communicate in stressful situations.
- The post requires physical dexterity. Uncorrected visual or hearing defect would be incompatible with the nature of the work.
