The post is available to start as soon as possible and is initially offered for 6 months, with the possibility of extension to 12 months. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a busy tertiary neonatal centre. Southmead Hospital is home to a 16-cot Intensive Care and High Dependency Unit and serves as a tertiary medical neonatal centre and joint lead provider for the South West Neonatal Network. With approximately 5,500 births each year, the unit delivers the full spectrum of neonatal intensive care, accepting tertiary referrals from across the South West. The Neonatal Unit is recognised for its specialist expertise in Neonatal Neurology and provides a regional tertiary referral service for the South West of England. The department has a strong reputation for clinical excellence, research, education and evidence-based practice, offering an outstanding learning environment for doctors wishing to develop their neonatal medicine experience. The successful candidate will join the neonatal medical team and participate in a full shift rota, contributing to the delivery of high-quality care for babies requiring intensive, high dependency and specialist neonatal services. Applicants must hold full GMC registration and have experience working within UK hospital systems and practices, or an equivalent healthcare environment.
