### Job summary

Joining Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust as a Clinical Fellow ST6-8 in Obs&Gynae offers an opportunity to develop your clinical practice within a large, supportive and forward thinking Women and Children's Directorate. This role is ideal for a motivated doctor seeking broad, high quality experience across both obstetrics and gynaecology, with genuine opportunities to develop specialist interests, confidence and autonomy while working within a well established consultant led service. Worcestershire Royal Hospital houses maternity and emergency gynaecology, while elective, work is delivered across the county.

You will work within a large, approachable consultant body covering the full range of subspecialties, including maternal and fetal medicine, endometriosis and pelvic pain, urogynaecology, infertility, oncology, colposcopy and ambulatory gynaecology. Clinical Fellows are encouraged to shape their role around career aspirations, with strong support for training, audit, quality improvement, education and research. ### Main duties of the job

Under the guidance
of the consultants, the post holder will be responsible for the clinical care
of Obstetric and Gynaecological patients.We have 2 teams on
call - one for Obstetrics and a separate team for Gynaecology.

Assist at
Out-patient clinics (Antenatal and general Gynaecology).

Participate on
call as part of the middle grade rota 1:9

Perform surgery in
obstetrics and gynaecological within his/her capability without supervision and
if difficulties arise beyond his/her competence to consult the relevant or on
call Consultant.

Be responsible
for the maintenance of proper case records and investigations on patients, and
correspondence with General Practitioners and others as required

In our
department opportunities exist for Clinical Fellows to develop and train in
Ambulatory Gynaecology (comprehensive service providing outpatient
hysteroscopy, Myosure and endometrial ablation), Colposcopy, endometriosis
management, infertility, Maternal Medicine and Urogynaecology. We have well
established multidisciplinary endometriosis and pelvic pain clinics, Fetal
medicine scan clinics and diabetes clinics.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Excellent communication skills with patients and colleagues verbal and written.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams across all WAHT sites WRH, AHR, KTC
- Evidence of maintaining professionalism under pressure.
- Demonstrated commitment to compassionate, patient centred care.
- Ability to accept and act on feedback.
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage time safely.

**Desirable**

- Experience supervising junior doctors, medical students, ACPs or nurses.
- Experience of simulation teaching or PROMPT faculty involvement.
- Evidence of leadership roles or rota departmental responsibilities.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- MBBS / MBChB or equivalent medical qualification (GMC approved primary medical degree).
- Full GMC registration with licence to practise (or eligibility by start date).
- Minimum two years post qualification clinical experience including at least six months in Obstetrics and/or Gynaecology, or another relevant acute specialty.
- Evidence of up to date statutory/mandatory training.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.

**Desirable**

- MRCOG Part Two (or equivalent examinations).
- Additional qualifications: PGCert Medical Education, BSc, MSc or equivalent.
- Completion of recognised laparoscopic, hysteroscopic, colposcopy or ultrasound training modules .

### Research & Academic Development

**Essential**

- Evidence of keeping up to date with relevant clinical literature.
- Understanding of appraisal requirements and portfolio maintenance.

**Desirable**

- Publications in peer reviewed journals.
- Experience working with research nurses, NIHR studies or recruitment to trials.
- Interest in developing sub specialty experience: oncology, ambulatory, pelvic pain/endometriosis, ultrasound or acute gynaecology.

### Organisation & Management Skills

**Essential**

- Ability to organise clinics, theatre lists, ward cover and handovers efficiently.
- Flexible approach to service needs across multi site Trust.
- Understanding of safe rota working and escalation pathways.

**Desirable**

- Experience contributing to rota design or service planning.
- Experience in teaching, rota coordination, or service development.

### Audit, Quality Improvement & Governance

**Essential**

- Evidence of participation in clinical audit or QI projects.
- Understanding of clinical governance, incident reporting and duty of candour
- Ability to reflect on practice and demonstrate learning
