## Job Content

### Job overview

The Post-COVID Service at UCLH is a nationally and internationally recognised clinical service that cares for patients who experience long-term effects of COVID infection or other viral infection.

We are a multidisciplinary service lead by physicians with expertise in post viral illness with multispeciality input from consultant colleagues in Respiratory, Infectious Disease, Neurology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology and Heamatology departments. Working within the team will provide a broad medical training, extensive consultant supervision, and will position the clinical fellow strongly for applying for, for example, IMT training programmes.

The therapy team are key to patient assessment and management and include senior physiotherapists and occupational therapists and psychologists to enable holistic care of multisystem illness.

### Main duties of the job

The clinical fellow will gain useful training in understanding integrated MDT management of complex scenarios and of working in an integrated pathway with community services and primary care who also contribute significantly to care in Long COVID and other post viral illness. Of note the service is increasingly evolving so that patients can be referred for assessment and treatment for any suspected post viral illnesses and works collaboratively with other similar services in North Central London.

Digital innovation has been adopted to support triage and rehabilitation and the service has a strong focus on capture of quality clinical data to support learning and research in this new field.

The post-COVID Service is actively engaged in developing and testing clinical hypotheses regarding the mechanism and treatment of post-COVID syndrome, and clinicians from the service have played an active role in the development of National Guidelines, and research programmes.

It is anticipated that the clinical fellow would be able to contribute to a number of ongoing pieces of clinical research underway in the clinic.
