### Job overview

We are seeking a Clinical Fellow to join our dynamic Respiratory team at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to develop their clinical expertise within a supportive and forward-thinking department.

This role will provide high-quality care for patients with respiratory conditions across inpatient wards, outpatient clinics, and multidisciplinary team settings. The post holder will work as part of the Respiratory Medicine team, supporting consultants and contributing to service delivery, education, and clinical governance.

### Main duties of the job

Direct Clinical Care:

- Participate in daily respiratory ward rounds and inpatient care.

- Manage acute respiratory admissions and ward referrals.

- Conduct outpatient respiratory clinics (general and specialist, e.g., asthma, COPD, ILD).

- Perform diagnostic procedures such as bronchoscopy and EBUS (training provided if required).

- Perform pleural procedures such as chest drains and pleural aspirates.

-  Attend and contribute to Lung Cancer MDT meetings.

- Provide advice to other specialties on respiratory issues.

Supporting Professional Activities:

- Participate in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement projects.

- Engage in CPD and mandatory training.

- Contribute to teaching of medical students and junior doctors.

- Participate in departmental meetings and service development.

**Essential**

- - Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practice
- - ALS
- - Able to speak English as necessary for the role

### Experience

**Essential**

- - Can demonstrate successful completion of foundation competencies
- - Minimum 2 years post-graduate training, including at least 6 months in Respiratory Medicine and/or Acute Medicine.
- - Competence at pleural aspiration and chest drains with pleural ultrasound experience.
- - Competence in managing common respiratory conditions (COPD, asthma, pneumonia). Including outpatient management.
- - Ability to work independently within agreed protocols.
- - Good communication and team-working skills.
- - Commitment to CPD and clinical governance
- 12 months working in the NHS

**Desirable**

- Evidence of involvement in audit & research projects
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent
- Experience in bronchoscopy or EBUS.
- Teaching experience (undergraduate/postgraduate)

### Qualifications
