## Job Content

### Job overview

The post is available from 5 August 2026 until 3rd August 2027, and you must have full GMC registration with a license to practice.  Ideally applicants will have completed Foundation Training and / or Core Training.

The post will provide a solid basis from which to apply for specialist training and many of our previous fellows have gone on to successfully secure posts in Internal Medicine or GP training.

### Main duties of the job

Clinical Fellows in Older Peoples Medicine will spend their time integrated into our vibrant and diverse department centred at the Freeman Hospital providing cover expected of ST1-2 level. The department at Freeman consists of five acute geriatrics wards, two specialist rehabilitation wards (stroke and orthogeriatrics) and a slower-stream general rehabilitation/complex discharge ward based on ward 20. At the RVI we have a front of house frailty team which in-reaches into the emergency department and admissions suite to optimise frail patients presenting acutely to hospital and supporting early discharge. These clinical fellow posts will involve working on both our general rehabilitation/complex discharge ward and as part of the front of house frailty team, providing the perfect opportunity to gain further experience in the management of frail older people alongside our specialist teams. These posts will help to improve skills in holistic care of older people that are relevant to all branches of medicine and surgery. Our department has dedicated teaching sessions on a Tuesday lunchtime and a specialist X ray meeting on a Monday lunchtime and all members of the department are passionate about teaching and optimising all learning opportunities.
