### Job overview

- This post is a 10 fixed clinical session, 40 hours, within Uveitis, Medical Retinal Service and Accident and Emergency department in Ophthalmology at Imperial College. The applicant could be employed to work at The Western Eye Hospital, Marylebone Road, London NW1 5YE or Charing Cross Hospital, Fulham Palace Road, London W6.

### Main duties of the job

- Provide High Quality Care to Patients in Ophthalmology

- The post holder must be medically qualified and maintain GMC specialist registration.
- To develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties required of the post.

- Research, Teaching and Training

- To provide high quality teaching to medical undergraduates and members of other health care professions as required by the Clinical Director/Chief of Service.
- Attend and participate in the West London weekly post-graduate ophthalmic teaching by organizing and chairing an allocated session 2-3 times a year.

- Performance Management

- To work with medical, nursing and managerial colleagues to ensure high performance in the following areas:

- Medical Staff Management

- To participate in team objective setting as part of the annual job planning cycle.

- Governance

- To review clinical outcomes in designated area using external benchmarking data where appropriate to identify and advise variances to the Clinical Director/Chief of Service.
- Participate in clinical audit, incident reporting and analysis and to ensure resulting actions are implemented.

- Leadership and Team Working

- To demonstrate excellent leadership skills with regard to individual performance, clinical teams, the Trust and when participating in national initiatives

- The selected candidate will also be expected to be involved in three medical retina research projects.
- to ensure NICE guideline for Anti-VGF injection is strictly adhered to

### Audit

**Essential**

- Understanding of clinical governance.
- Previous participation in audit

**Desirable**

- Regular audit Presentations.
- Development of guidelines.

### Language

**Essential**

- Candidates are able to speak and write English to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfill the job requirements

### Clinical Skills

**Essential**

- Ability to manage general emergency ophthalmic
- Ability to perform retinal laser, intravitreal injection and other retinal treatments.
- Medical retinal/Uveitis problems.

**Desirable**

- Experience in Ophthalmic surgery

### Education and Qualifications

**Essential**

- On GMC registered/ licensed Medical Practitioner
- Medical Qualification MBBS or equivalent, at least 4 years training in Ophthalmology
- On GMC Register

**Desirable**

- FRCOphth or Equivalent.

### Relevant experience in specialty / Sub Specialty

**Essential**

- Experience in medical retina, emergency ophthalmology and General ophthalmology and achieved Royal College of Ophthalmologists ST4 competencies or equivalent.

**Desirable**

- Publications in ophthalmology
- Experience in medical retina, Uveitis

### Academic achievements including research/publications

**Desirable**

- Publication in peer reviewed ophthalmic journal
- Current research projects
