## Job Content

### Job overview

### Bristol NHS Foundation Trust (BFT) is seeking doctors to join ITS City & Weston Hospital Operating Unit’s (C&WHOU) Adult Critical Care team at ST3+ equivalent level.

These full-time posts are based across the adult intensive care units at Bristol Royal Infirmary, Bristol Heart Institute and Weston General Hospital. The post holder will work within a multiprofessional team, alongside other doctors, to deliver high-quality care on a full-shift rota while gaining experience in both tertiary referral and district general hospital settings.

The Intensive Care Units at C&WHOU provide Critical Care support across all of its clinical services. These posts form part of the resident staffing of the ICUs.

The post holder will work resident day and night shifts in both Bristol ICUs, providing care for the patients in the unit and on the wards as part of the multidisciplinary ICU team. The postholder will be required to work resident shifts including evenings, nights and weekends.

### Main duties of the job

The postholder will be working in a busy tertiary ICU and will gain experience in several different organ support modalities including respiratory, cardiovascular and renal support as well as developing their practical skills (central venous and arterial cannulation, cardiac output monitoring, point of care ultrasound and endo-tracheal intubation).

The postholder will be a key member of the cardiac arrest team. In addition to bedside clinical teaching, there is an embedded teaching programme covering all aspects of the ICM syllabus that takes place every Wednesday.

There is the opportunity to be involved in ongoing audit and quality improvement projects and the unit is research active with several ongoing research projects and international studies.
