### Job overview

The Mechanical thrombectomy Teaching fellow is a secondment to the Midlands Imaging Academy for 40 hrs per week based at the Royal Stoke Hospital. The teaching fellow will provide simulation training to learners, but also work in the Keele cadaveric suite and Royal Stoke clinical service to meet the training needs of the thrombectomy learners. It is anticipated that the scope of the post will evolve in collaboration with the post holder, the local Thrombectomy training lead, the TPD and the Midlands Academy Director.

### Main duties of the job

The vision for Teaching fellows in the West Midlands is to aspire to excellence in education. This role aims to enhance the Mechanical Thrombectomy training programme, including contributing to a teaching program that is respected, delivers the curriculum and provides an appropriate learning culture. The fellow will work individually and collaboratively on projects tailored to the thrombectomy programme and the fellow’s development needs. The fellows will work directly with learners, trainers and local administrators whilst also contributing to senior management teams.

This fellowship offers a unique opportunity for a highly capable and motivated trainee to develop their educational, training and simulation skills for a future as a clinical leader particularly in the area of education and training. The post holder will also gain practical experience in mechanical thrombectomy as well as clinical and educational leadership from local experts.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The management and development of the radiology domain of the MITA platform will be part of the duties of the fellow including aspects of site development, maintenance and user support.

Fellows will have an exciting opportunity to work with training leads and university academics to develop educational research projects and are encouraged to utilise this opportunity to apply for a further qualification within medical education or  leadership.

The facilities at the County Postgraduate Medical Education centre include;-

An Angio Mentor IR Suite Simulator consisting of training modules in neuro and vascular IR and Cardiology; including Endovascular Basic Skills Module, Cardio Basic Skills Module, C-Arm Basic Skills Module, Iliac, Femoral, below knee, Renal, EVAR, Carotid and cerebral modules. The IR modules have a self-directed learning programme, but it is anticipated that these will be delivered as supervised simulated learning.

Two ScanTrainer haptic Ultrasound Simulators with self-directed training modules in basic sonography including ultrasound physics and probe manipulation as well as modules in general abdominal, gynaecological & transvaginal modules.

Eve Intelligent uss manikin for simulated training in abdo and pelvis modules with variable pathology

Phillips Epiq USS machine which is general and vascular enabled, with  8 curvilinear, hockey and linear probes to give trainees hands on experience using silicone body part models for General abdo and pelvic pathology, trans vaginal (non obs), Abdominal Aortic aneurysm, Scrotal, Musculoskeletal, Foreign body identification, Thyroid biopsy, Breast biopsy, Paracentesis, Thoracocentesis, Abscess drainage and central line placement training.

Imactis CT biopsy and needle placement simulator for training on CT intervention, biopsies and drains.

Workstation class room. 10 case interpretation workstations, 3 of which are eye tracking enabled.

- Cadaveric Angiosimulation with bi plane imaging and a full range of disposables required to perform all levels of complexity in thrombectomy procedures.

- Medical Degree
- ST 4-5
- Previous track record of delivering medical education to co-professional groups
- Understanding of the Clinical Governance process
- Competent in basic information technology

- Evidence of interest in/ experience of delivering teaching
- Evidence of using feedback/evaluation of teaching
