### Job overview

The Endoscopy department at HUTH provides both elective and acute services from Hull Royal Infirmary (3 rooms) and Castle Hill Hospital (Recently opened State of the Art, Allam building, 5 rooms). This is a high-volume environment, offering a wide range of diagnostic and complex therapeutic procedures to its population including Gastroscopy, Flexible sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy, ERCP, EUS, EBUS, Bronchoscopy, Capsule endoscopy

HUTH Endoscopy provides exposure to the full spectrum of GI pathology, attracting referrals from Colorectal Surgery, Upper GI Surgery and Gastroenterology.  The centre is also the Hub of the regional Bowel Screening Programme and host to the East Yorkshire School of Endoscopy which provides regular diagnostic and therapeutic JAG accredited courses.

The department is clinically led by Dr Othman Saraj, Consultant Gastroenterologist, and endoscopy services are delivered by 42 GI endoscopists, including 7 clinical nurse endoscopists.

### Main duties of the job

This role will enable you to:

- -       Consolidate core diagnostic endoscopy skills through regular participation in service GI endoscopy lists -       Undertake high level training in an advanced endoscopic subspecialty tailored to the candidates development needs. This may include complex polypectomy, such as EMR, ablation techniques or any other agreed gastroenterology-related endoscopic fields. -       Optional opportunities to develop teaching skills through selective involvement in endoscopy training activities, including participation in basic and therapeutic skills courses delivered by East Yorkshire School of Endoscopy (EYSE). -       Engage in quality improvement and research projects relevant to endoscopy service development and innovation.

- - MRCP(UK) or equivalent qualification
- - Demonstration of endoscopic key performance indicators within JAG standards

- - Postgraduate qualification in Education or significant experience in post graduate training

- - Experience of supervising junior medical staff
- - Commitment to formal and informal teaching of medical staff, AHPs and medical students
- - Evidence of participation in audit
